Jade Signature's Senior Project Manager, Jennifer Taka, proudly shows off her Trimble RTS 773 Layout Kit - an important tool that helps keep the project design on track by providing "continuous measurement information for the accurate layout of the design data."
Dan Finch, the Project Executive overseeing Jade Signature, gives his insight on the importance of using Trimble on site:
"The Main Lobby at the Jade
Signature has many unique elements that are very difficult to layout (multiple
radii, ellipsis, etc.). The Main Reception Area and Desk is one of
these Key Features and requires the close dimensional coordination of the
drywall subcontractor, the architectural millwork subcontractor, and the stone
subcontractor. All these materials touch one another and need to appear
“seamless” and the stone and millwork are fabricated in factories, not
on-site. Many of the subcontractors have been challenged with the
geometry on this project and the level of detail required to successfully
layout these critical elements. Suffolk worked with the Drywall
Subcontractor, the Stone Subcontractor and the Millwork Subcontractor to have
the Reception Area modeled. All three (3) subs needed to use the same
model to prepare their shop drawings and their layout points to ensure
perfection. To assist the subcontractors in this quest, Suffolk used its
models, points from the models (for metal framing, face of stone, and key
millwork wall panels) to properly layout all key elements on the floor for
final approval by the Developer (Fortune). Not only was the layout exercise
successful, but Suffolk partnered with its subcontractors to teach them how to
use models to extract layout points (picture below), then use a total station
to layout those points in the field (a new experience for the drywall, stone,
and millwork subcontractors)."
